If you really like bowling games, Christmas, or puerile humor, EB is worth a look. Replay value is also lacking: There's a regular and advanced mode available, but regular mode is hardly worth playing as it lacks controls for power or spin and is ludicrously easy. All the nifty details become old hat after a few rounds, and then EB becomes just another bowling game. The first twenty minutes playing EB is a blast, but the fun trails off rapidly from there.
On the other hand, the game runs as smooth as silk, with very little lag or load time. The traditional meter-based interface feels slightly off much of the time, the ball simply doesn't seem to go where it should. The make-or-break attribute of bowling games is control, and EB unfortunately falls slightly short in that category. The sound's also great-you'll only need to hear a single rousing rendition of Elf Elf Baby to understand exactly what sort of game you're playing.
Boss Claus wears an embroidered bowling shirt instead of his traditional suit the beautifully drawn elves periodically moon their belligerent front man to riotous effect frogs, deer, and moose meander across the alley, providing bonus points if you're quick enough. This reviewer has never liked Santa and he would probably go Elf Bowling for kicks.ĮB's designers possess a deft visual touch, inserting lots of hilarious details into a basically boring old bowling game. Dingle makes a bet with Kris and to settle it, they'll play a winner-take-all. Kris Kringle decides to go on a cruise and take some elves and his unemployed brother, Dingle Kringle. Several demands had to be met like higher wags, lower urinals and vacations. Or so the management-biased backstory of EB would have us believe. The Great Elf Strike of 1999 brought the North Pole to it's knees. However jolly he may be, Annual Gift Man's no softie when it comes to putting the hurt on pinko munchkins instead of hiring scabs, he's going the whole hog and bowling the little jerks off the picket line. So it seems that Santa's mischievous elves have hit the bricks instead of the toy shop this season, striking for labor rights or better pay or some such tripe. EB will almost certainly make you laugh out loud.
ELF BOWLING ORIGINAL GAME PC
Patterned after the PC hit from NStorm, when they decided to do this project the nice folks at Cybiko were probably thinking: Everyone likes bowling, right? And everyone likes Christmas, right? And a gazillion people played this on their computer, right? So why not combine them all, throw them in a big pot with more foul-mouthed elves, labor unrest, and curious wildlife, and mix until we achieve cell-phone gaming immortality? And it almost worked, too. While Dingle hypnotizes the elves, Santa figures out a way to reverse the process, thwarting Dingle's plan and saving Christmas.Wow. After Santa's wife finds him, Santa must get back to the elves in order to save Christmas. This upsets the elves, and Dingle uses the opportunity to make them follow him on a trip to Fiji. He then tricks Santa into getting frozen, and writes a fake note about how Santa hates the elves and is leaving. He challenges Santa to a game of Elf Bowling, but after the elves discover he cheated, his plan is foiled. This upsets Dingle, so he plots against Santa in order to take over Christmas from him. After 1400 years, Santa becomes sick of his brother Dingle loafing around in his apartment and insists that he leave. Santa had the idea of giving the toys to the world's children, and thus, Christmas is born. The elves already had been making toys, but they didn't have anything to do with them, so they had to eat it in order to survive in the cold wasteland. Shortly afterwards, they ask Santa to lead their factory. There, they meet elves who recognize Santa as the prophesied "white beard" and they thaw him and Dingle out. After getting kicked off their ship by their own crew, they become trapped in ice and float until they wash ashore at the North Pole.
